"Since NEW CHAPTER'S beginnings, people have often asked me, why the name? What does it really mean? To me it is actually a double meaning.

Though herbal medicine has for millennia been the predominant medicinal system practiced worldwide, it has sadly been suppressed or scorned in the United States. 25 years ago, when we started NEW CHAPTER, one would often travel hours to find a doctor who might have a mind to holistic or complementary concepts and even rarer was the doctor who might feel comfortable with botanicals. I envisioned that through our model of a kinder and gentler approach to health through herbal supplementation, we would help herald a NEW CHAPTER for our culture of reconnection with our healing roots.

The second meaning for NEW CHAPTER has to do with our commitment to always make a contribution-to innovate-to provide a NEW CHAPTER in nutritional supplementation, not simply offer another copy of the same thing. Two good examples of this are our Organic Whole-Food Probiotic Nutrients and our Herbal Therapeutics. Years ago, all vitamins and minerals were sold in their purified or isolated non-food form. This inspired NEW CHAPTER-we created and offered nutrients in their most natural and active whole food probiotically cultured form. While called natural, herbal extracts were often extracted with harsh solvents and then chemically manipulated to deliver a high concentration of a single component. Our NEW CHAPTER in herbal extraction was to offer, for the first time, a full spectrum of herbal healing components utilizing a chemical solvent-free supercritical extraction.
